ERRÁZURIZ WINE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2022 UNVEILED

With his stunning image entitled “Gathering Prunings on Corton Hill”, Jon Wyand was crowned Errázuriz Wine Photographer of the Year at the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year Awards (PLFPOTY) 2022. The image shows a Burgundian vineyard worker gathering prunings taken on a crisp winter’s day at Montagne de Corton Hill in the Côte de Beaune.

The Errázuriz Wine Photographer of the Year award is one of the most eagerly anticipated categories. This award is divided into three sub-categories: People, Places and Produce. Wyand won the People award for his shot, while the award for Places went to Italian photographer Marina Spironetti for her “Architecture and Wine” image, taken at the winery of Chianti Classico producer Antinori. Suzanne Becker Bronk of the United States won the Produce sub-category with “On Ice”, a striking image of dry ice being used to inhibit the beginning of fermentation at Caldwell Vineyard in Napa Valley.

It is worth noting the impressive press coverage that PLFPOTY had. Considering just two weeks after the winner announcement it had over 200 items of coverage in more than 40 countries. Some of the top highlights are the BBC (biggest news site in the world) in 10 different territories; CBS, MSN, Buzzfeed, CNN (most visited news site in America where PLFPOTY was featured for the first time ever), Forbes, Daily Mail (UK), Rediff (India) and many ohers.

Famous food photographer David Loftus chaired the global judging panel, also featured by Magui Chadwick, the family ambassador for Viña Errázuriz and Viña Seña, among others.

The exhibition of the 2022 Finalists will premiere at The Royal Photographic Society in Bristol from 20 November to 12 December 2022. Entry is free.
