Outstanding scores for Las Pizarras in latest report by James Suckling

Las Pizarras Pinot Noir 2015 was recognized with 99 points, while Las Pizarras Chardonnay completes the top 5 wines in Suckling’s review with 98 points.

Santiago, May 17th 2016. Las Pizarras, the newest iconic proyect of Viña Errázuriz, had an outstanding performance in the latest report of international wine critic James Suckling. Las Pizarras Pinot Noir 2015 scored 99 points and positioned itself as the Best Pinot Noir in Chile, while Las Pizarras Chardonnay 2015 scored 98 points. Furthermore, both wines were chosen in Suckling’s top 5 Picks among 600 chilean wines tasted, positioning Errázuriz as the only chilean winery with two wines featuring in the top 5 picks.

Following his recent visit to Chile, during which he tasted more than 600 wines from different valleys, international wine critic James Suckling published his article entitled “Chile’s Evolving Quality Wine World” in which he awarded Las Pizarras Pinot Noir 2015 with 99 points: “Even better than the debut and great 2014. Perfumed and vivid with strawberry, raspberry, flower leaf, cedar, stone and flint. Full body yet compacted and compressed giving it an ultra-fine palate profile. Tension and finesse. Light citrus finish. Polished to almost perfection. Seamless finish. 500 cases made. Drink now.”

As for Las Pizarras Chardonnay 2015, Suckling commented: “The structure and length of this white highlights its greatness. Full body, yet tight and structured with a superb linear backbone of ripe fruit and fine phenolic tension. Cream, stone, flint and apple. All about refined texture. Drink or hold.”

“We wanted to do the best possible Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the place”, states Francisco Baettig, “we wanted to push Aconcagua Costa as the origin, and the place, Pizarras, was created with a terroir approach. The name of the wine is directly related to the place, the terroir, and it is not just a fantasy name”, adds to trace the core ideal of Las Pizarras.
