Viña Errázuriz in Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries for 4th Consecutive Year

In recognition to its outstanding quality and consistency, Viña Errázuriz has recently been chosen for 4th consecutive year among the Top 100 Wineries of 2016 by Wine & Spirits Magazine, an annual list that only includes those wineries around the world that own the most exceptional and consistent range of wines, with the highest scores earned throughout the different tasting of this prestigious wine magazine.

“The Top 100 Wineries is our greatest accolade: Each year, our panels and critics blind taste more than 15,000 wines, looking for the most distinctive wines to present to our readers. Our Top 100 Wineries earned the highest scores in our tastings this year, with the most consistent performances over a range of wines. Viña Errazuriz will feature prominently in our 30th Anniversary Buying Guide, where we will tell the stories of the people and vineyards behind these outstanding wines”, commented Joshua Greene, Editor of Wine & Spirits Magazine about this 4th consecutive distinction for Viña Errázuriz in the Top 100 Wineries.

Some of the wines that were considered for this important recognition were Aconcagua Costa Sauvignon Blanc 2015 with 94 points, described as “firm in acidity, rich in citrus notes and deep in white fruit flavors, expanding its freshness straight through to the end. A sea breeze on the palate, perfect for sole crudo.” The Blend Collection Red 2013 also scored 94 points and was described as “a wine that shines in red fruit flavors—cherries and strawberries—spiced with pepper and cinnamon. The mouth is soft, yet with that lovely rusticity of Mediterranean wines. I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t cellar this. Or the second bottle, after you quickly finish the first.” Aconcagua Costa Syrah 2013, also with 94 points, highlighted the work of winemaker Francisco Baettig: “He grew a brilliant Syrah in 2013, with notes of blackcurrants, spice, mineral and herbs; its texture is edgy and linear, guided by firm acidity. Drink it now or cellar it for five years, as it will gain in complexity.”

La Cumbre Syrah 2013, Aconcagua Costa Chardonnay 2014 and MAX Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 were also highlighted with 90 points and above.

The 30th Anniversary Buying Guide will be published in October, while the selected wineries in the Top 100 2016 list will attend the Top 100 event in San Francisco to be celebrated in October 10th.
